I’ve heard great things about being a bookseller on Amazon.com. You can visit their website and view lists of the most requested books and try to go out and find them in your local used book store, yard sales, or thrift stores. Not to mention at yard sales and things, you can buy huge boxes of books for really cheap. I have a friend who went to a yard sale and purchased ten boxes of books with about 10-15 books in each, for a dollar each. Most people have no idea what they’re throwing away. There is a high demand for rare out of print books that could just be gathering dust on someone’s bookshelf. I know of people who make 6 figure incomes from selling books on freakin’ amazon! It takes some cunning and smarts, but if you have a head for it, you can be successful.
Also, people are making a killing on craigslist these days. Think "flipping a house," but small scale. Flip your old bedroom furniture and sell it on Craigslist. Go to yard sales and gather up some promising pieces, then advertise them with a witty description that will cath people’s attention. It works! Definitely give it a try.
