Internet Article Marketing – does it really work?

My first hand, real research on this topic shows that the results may not be what others claim it to be.

I’ve written many articles and submitted them to the article directories. The results are far less than expected.

What do you think? Do you have any hard proof that it works? Please share.
Hi everyone.

Really, I am looking for YOUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCE with article marketing. I’m not really talking about affiliate programs but rather if YOU received a significant number of unique visitors due to putting the articles out there.

Many of mine are picked up and posted with the link gone or not hot. That is useless to us.

I always get answers from people that it works, but no one can prove it.

It does work and it works in two ways. One it is useful for IBLs (one way inbound links) and two, from organic traffic.

If you make the effort to make the articles genuinly interesting and informative, then there is very real possibility that you can get some genuine traffic from the article.

One of the beautis though is that a good article can get syndicated and thus you can double, triple etc the amount of organic traffic and number of links from the one article.

Article writing is a long term SEO thing though so you have to be patient.

Yes it definitely does work. It depends on what you are writing about (promoting) who you are targeting, what you’ve written, where it was submitted, if you have a website or not, etc. There are a lot of factors involved. I think the key is to do research (wordtracker is wonderful) to find your niche. Once you have a niche and you know exactly what keywords you are targeting, then you can create content around that (with or without a website) and profit from related affiliate programs.

From a SEO point of view, article marketing is a great deal of work for very little return. Articles will receive most of their traffic directly from the article sites themselves. This traffic can be very thin or nonexistent. Mass article submissions are a waste of time and can get your site penalized in Google. You will not rank any page or site through article marketing alone.

From a marketing point of view, a well researched and written article can reach the top of the search engines for long tail phrases. So, title your articles similar to long tail phrases that are provided on WordTracker. Don’t guess what people are searching for, find out what they are searching for and tailor your writing around those subjects.

The traffic will still be thin but the visitors will be targeted and those are the ones that convert.
