How much money does Burger King make/save by not putting tomatoes on the Wopper now?

With the recent salmonella scare Burger King, (as well as other fast food restaurants,) are not putting tomatoes on sandwiches. Is this a windfall for them? The price has not declined.

Let’s see, they had to throw out all of the tomatoes they had already bought and they have to deal with a decline in sales as a percentage of their customer base becomes too scared to eat out.

Oh yeah, what a windfall.

It’s not about what they make, it’s about what they save in lawsuits if someone was to get sick.

Just imagine how much it cost them to dump all of those tomatoes that posed the potential threat to all the people who could have gotten sick. It seems to have been very responsible of them to make this decision. Some Canadian locations are having local produce available now.
