well some time ago i put up an ebook in the books section and they deleted it. saying to put it in the information products category in a classified ad format. i put it in the information products category but when i press list your item the page just reloads!

Selling digital products can take a bit more work than just putting them on some website and hoping people will buy.
You’ll need to actually interact with people before they will buy them, it’s also helpful to put a few excerpts of what they are filled with.
Why should someone buy your e-book? Is there some way you can add value to them? If you have several of them, could you consider giving one away free to someone who was willing to give you contact information?
It’s not hard to sell them from your own website if you want, this way you don’t have to pay monthly fees or a commission. (well, unless you count the hosting, the key here is to find alternate uses for your website at the same time)
Doing it this way gives you some presence and you can put other tools up there (such as mailing lists and specials). The big thing is to make it possible for people to interact with you.
As far as selling it, there are a number of tools out there, if you look around for them. If you’re using a UNIX web host, there’s PayVeX:
