Depending on what it is start with getting on CRAIGSLIST.org, EBay is a great location to hang a sign as is Amazon. Also look for local blogs and place adds on there.

This is a tough one because it really depends so much on your specific skillset and what you personally like to do. There is literally a work at home opportunity for every possible niche that you can think of. So I would really counsel sitting down and working out what you are passionate abouit and what you do/dont enjoy doing. That way when you really have to work hard to make the $$$ start to flow then it wont seem like such a big grind.
