   Start with your friends, talk to them and let them know you started selling candles and would like to show them some samples! Have a party. To advertise if you are a consultant for a company then you need to check with how they advise you to advertise. I am a consultant and I have limitations on how to advertise. So check that out. Flyers are another good thing to post in the grocery stores or where ever a bulletin boards are.

   Personally, I get over half of my business from answering questions here in YA! This is a great forum for advertising if you are respectful and don’t spam.

   Have home based parties every week or every month for your candle business. Give away gift certificates, etc as an incentive for them to come.

   Pass out your business cards every where you go.

   Get a magnetic sign for your car.

   I would also recommend you get a website for your candles. Many people like to order stuff on line from the comfort of their home.

   Keep a database of your customers, including a list of their birthdays. Candles are an inexpensive birthday gift. Keep track of big days such as Valentines Day, Easter, Mothers Day, Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

   You could also try the local swap meets and sell your candles. Join various clubs around your area. Offer to sell your candles at your local church in return for giving a certain percentage of the profits to charity.

   Try various small shops and see if they will sell of the candles in their stores. It never hurts to ask.

   Always be act and dress professionally where ever you go.

   You can also make appointments with family and friends to show them your candles. Plus, even if they don’t buy, remember to always ask for referrals. Repeat customers and referrals are key to building your business. If a customer is undecided do a couple of follow ups but don’t be a pest.

   Remember, to be patient, growing a business takes time. Selling is a process it is not an event.
