Obtaining Backlinks from Articles

brown_h0rnet asked:

I have a website that has been out since November of last year. I have submitted 6-7 article (5 have been through article distribution services). I have many hundreds and maybe over a thousand links to my website… but… when I do a link search at yahoo (link:mywebsite.com… I only have maybe 20 links going back to the site from the article pages.

How long does it take for backlinks to be indexed? Could I still be caught in the mythological sandbox? Or could I have gotten penalized for getting too many links back to fast?

A Simple Way to Drive Traffic To Your Website

posted by Eric G. in May 19th, 2008

I’m sure you’ve heard that opt in email marketing is the best way to drive boat loads of traffic to your website.  But there’s a simple way you can targeted traffic to your site.

Make friends online, and email them.

I’m not saying to spam your friends by any means, but if you have a group of friends, or a newsgroup you post to via email, your informal emails and posts can be a cheap way to gain visitors.

Just place a tiny link to your website in your signature and start emailing your friends and family.  Don’t send spammy ‘buy this’ or ‘visit this’ emails.  Send cool emails like cool news stories, jokes, pictures….you know stuff you are used to sending your pals.

If they like you’re email, they’ll forward it to their friends.  Pretty soon, you’ll get virial traffic without having anybody fill out an opt in form.

In simple terms, Internet marketing is the process of growing and promoting your presence online. While there are hundreds of online marketing techniques, the most common, and most misunderstood, forms of Internet marketing today is link building.

Link building is a pretty general term. It is used to describe anything you do to build links back to a website to increase natural traffic. The more inbound links you have pointing to your site, the more traffic you would receive from search engines. While this sounds simple enough, link building has changed considerably in the past 5 years.

For example, in the ‘old days’ web masters would build links by submitting their URLS to link farms, develop reciprocal links, or purchase links to increase the number of links back to their web site.

You can’t rely on these methods anymore.
