How Can I Increase My Website’s Adsense CTR?

Do you want to maximize your Adsense revenue? Wonder why your click through rating is so low?

Many web publishers often wonder where they should insert Adsense Ads to maximize their click through rate (CTR). To be honest, it all depends on the site and the content. For example, what kind of a website do you own? Where is your visitor’s attention focused?

I know it’s common these days, but you REALLY you don’t want the ads to get in the user’s way. For example, one of the most annoying places to put Adsense is right in the middle of your content It is common these days for webmasters to place adds in the middle of their content or the middle of a story.

But think about it this way, how many times have you been watching a great TV show and all of the sudden, during the best part of the show, they break to a commercial. If you have a DVR, you simply fast forward over the commercials to finish the show.

Now, imagine your readers. You’ve written a really fascinating article and placed an Adsense ad right in the middle of your content. The chances that your reader will just ‘scroll’ over the ads to finish reading your content is high, isn’t it?

Google themselves have offered a few suggestions regarding maximum ad placement. The following heat map illustrates ideal placements of Adsense Ads on a sample layout. The colors fade from dark orange to light yellow (Strong Orange = Strongest Ad Performance and Light Yellow = Weak Ad performance).

Now, all other things being equal, ad placements above the fold tend to perform better than those below the fold. Ads placed near rich content and navigational aids usually do well because users are focused on those areas of a page.

While this heat map can be a useful guide to positioning your Adsense Ads, you should experiment. Look at your site through the eyes of a visitor.

How to Sell Expensive Items on eBay

Selling expensive items on eBay such as TV’s, computers, or jewelry is really no different than selling lower priced items. It all comes down to how you market the item.

The first thing you must do in order to sell expensive items on eBay is to determine what the actual market value is. Remember, eBay buyers are looking for a good deal, so you can’t set the price of a relatively in expensive item too high.

For example, don’t expect to sell a pair of socks for $50 (unless they’re made with gold thread). After that, research similar items from other auctions at eBay to see what price those items sold for.

Finally, determine what the minimum amount of money you are willing to sell the item for. This will be your reserve price.

Now you’re ready to set up your auction ad.

Many power sellers begin by setting their reserve price, and then setting their opening bid price lower than $50 – no matter how high their reserve price is.

PLR Articles, Adding Fresh Content to Your Niche Site

Looking for more traffic? It’s no secret that major search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN favor websites that are constantly updated with fresh unique content.

One way to add content to your website is by using free reprint articles. Free reprint articles are a great way to add quick content to your website, but you can’t rely solely on them to boost your traffic rankings.

Free to reprint articles are most likely being used on thousands of other websites. That means you run the risk of being penalized by Google because of duplicate content.

But that’s not to say that you can’t get fresh content on your website.

Private Label Articles

Recently, web site owners have been turning to PLR articles to complement their web site. Many find that PLR articles, or private label rights articles, are a better alternative to add useful, interesting, search engine friendly content to your website.

Why is PLR better than Free Article Directories?
One main reason publishers prefer PLR articles instead of just free reprints is because PLR content providers limit the distribution of their articles to prevent over-duplication. PLR articles can also be edited easily by web publishers, producing fresh unique content.

This has many positive advantages. Since PLR articles can be ‘made over’ so to speak, they provide an excellent source of fresh new material for niche content mini sites. New content is also an excellent way to get your site indexed on major search engines since spider bots are attracted to fresh content. New content can also increase a website or blog’s loyal reader base.

That said, PLR articles shouldn’t be used ‘as is’. For maximum results, plan to re-write the articles to avoid duplicate content issues. You want your articles to be unique by adding your own unique point of view and tweaking them to fit the interests of your audience. Even if you don’t want to personalize your articles, you should at least write a brief introduction or comment about the topic to make it personal.

Here are some good sources of private label rights articles. When you join any of these PLR article sites, be sure to read the terms carefully. Their rules and terms vary slightly.
